this is another i'll have to try out. good impasto can be tricky to do. looks like you've got the thick, heavy paint part down, though. it's the brushstrokes that can be tricky.

Agreed about brush strokes. I had looked at Painterly Effects by ScaryKitty and Smeary Oil Painting by ThreeDee for inspiration, though I don't know that I managed to bring in their techniques.

I like it!!! smile8)

I would agree with adding the brushstrokes in substitution for loosing the horizontal and vertical base crosshatch texture.....although it could be applied towards an oil painting on canvas type of effect..... smile:devil:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll experiment with brush strokes if I get around to working on the filter again. smile;)

Some updates to the filter:

Brush Hair Enhance improves the brush stroke with visible brush hairs. They will conform to the image if Brush Hair Conform is selected. Make sure to have some Image Dispersion turned up, even if just a bit, for the effect to be visible. Special thanks to ThreeDee's Smeary Oil Painting for ideas implemented.

The new Colorize effect is fun to play with for surreal painting.
