I guess somebody has a very very similar mind as I do! Wow look at how the structures are like... 95% matching to Voyager, the filter that I made several months ago! (5% constitutes for nodes in different locations!) I wonder what the odds of that happening are.... Wow. I feel like I just won the grand prize of the lottery!

Not that I really really care so much. But seriously, I'm just saying this is a bad ripoff. If you got time to do such a thing, you could have totally took some time to look at what was in existence and somehow made it even better and efficient. I would have loved to see that happen.

Now I don't care because FF promotes a nice learning culture where people learn off of somebody else's methodology. Though sometimes, it goes into the realm of what's simply "copied and pasted." It's a sort of derivative work that just is too similar to be considered even original.

I don't know what FilterForge people will respond to this, but I'm fairly okay with it. I don't know exactly how the Agreement works here so I'm not saying more than this. But just to let you know, its fine, and I'm cool with it. Others may not be, but that's them.

like you said, we are supposed to learn from eachother. i used this a very long time ago. Just around when you created Voyager. i wanted to be able to control things a different way, so i changed it up a little bit. it took me a while to find out where everything went, and i had to organize it a different way, the way you did was a bit confusing for me. im not trying to rip. when you submit a filter you can epect it to get modified online. this filter does something way different from yours, im glad your not offended.

You can modify it and I expect stuff to happen on the internet. Of course, at the same time, I was quite disappointing that I literally saw the "Voyager style nebulae" on the preview of the filter. It was too obvious. I was like, "Oh... wow." Considering the degree of modification, its not so much... it becomes a bit too easy.

Of course, I AM expecting a higher degree of modification, enough to become one's own work. Then again, it hits that wall of, "how much modification?" And it really starts becoming a thicker question of where that thin line is. I personally think the author should state where the line is but I can be wrong on that point.

Though I'm happy and VERY accepting of derivative works based on anything I make. It's just disappointing when it becomes too similar/too alike/too close to being the original.

By the way, my friends usually taunt me that I'm "too nice." They're right, I am too nice. Not that I'll ever change personalities over something I've been told about.

smile;) Whatever. My thoughts.

finnianm, I strongly encourage you to change the description of the filter to something along the lines of
"this is a minimally altered filter originally created by Skybase".
