This one is promising. A few suggestions to make it just that much more beautiful. The straw looks a little to thick with a color that looks like it was painted on instead of each piece of straw having its own color, if that makes sense. Good job though.

Yeah, this one actually caught my eye unlike most of them in the past week or 5. Another vote for keep working on it, it could go somewhere. smile:)

The "painted" straws you have here by themselves are actually pretty interesting. They aren't completely opaque, but that can easily be fixed. If you could, I would go with red's suggestion, but don't get rid of the current straws. The moss is iffy, see if you could improve that as well. Good job so far! smile:)

Is this in the right direction?

your shadow is on the same level as the top of the thatch. the shadow shld fall under the thatch. and no thatch i've ever seen had such an even end line. thatch is rough. it's often just straw of some kind.

here, this is more what a thatched roof would look like. this is very rough; i never finished this one, but it'll show what i mean about the shadows.

Something like this for a third roof type?

yeah, that's better. i dont like the overlap from one layer of the thatch to the next, but the shadows are right now.
