Could this be used in some way to make height maps ?
I recently have a new 3D software (Infinito) that makes terrains from height maps And I needed to make may own height map drawing it all by hand on photoshop using the grid view Now that I have seen this, I thought that perhaps modifying this filter in some way, it could be used to make automatic gray squares with different levels of shading and fill a whole square with them. Here below is the height map I have made myself by hand ![]() |

I do not know what is this for and what is the purpose of this filter as it does not fill the screen with grayscale squares, and do not understand how to use this.

Sorry, I should have posted comments on this years ago. There are detailed instructions in the SCRIPT component. This is not really a filter, it's a script demo.
For a filter I was building, I had a need to tweak a set of values, and really didn't want to put them in the filter settings. So I wrote this. The SCRIPT component encodes one or more simple data lookup tables - rows and columns of numbers - as a two-dimensional array in Lua. (Which you would customize for your purpose.) It then generates a grayscale image to represent that table, which is what you see when See Whole Table is checked. The filter then uses a LOOKUP component to extract the value of a cell for use by another component. To see that effect, uncheck See Whole Table and drag the column/row sliders. You'll see the screen fill with the color matching the correct cell of the table. Despite SpaceRay using it to make a height map, the filter itself really has no filtering application. ![]() |

Thanks for explaining it and how it works and what is for
I agree that the example of SpaceRay may be confusing |
