This is a utility filter for adjusting brightness, contrast or color. I'm doing it because I use Photoshop with many layers and sometimes only one layer needs adjusting. I haven't found a way to do this for only one layer in Photoshop without taking the item out of Photoshop, adjusting and returning. (Maybe I missed something?) A filter will work on only one layer. Okay...as for controls...the standard setup has red as 1, green as 2, blue as 3, and the contrast and brightness at 50 for each color. The contrast and brightness sliders go from 1 to 100, so you've a fair amount of control space. If you leave this filter at the default setting and tweak the sliders, you can adjust your graphic. If you hit the random button...you'll have interesting colorization effects. Do enjoy! |
You did indeed miss something. Look up "Non-Destructive" Photoshop Techniques.
Make a clipping mask of the Adjustment Layer.
Have fun.
