I have had an idea that I think that probably this could be easy, or probably not.
I do not know if you are already know them , but there are available for DSLR digital cameras some filter to put in front of the lens to make optical effects before taking the photo. So my idea is to make a software digital version of this real world plastic filter, by using a FF filter and apply this filter to get the same effect as if this has been taken through this filters attached to the lens of the camera. You can see some of this lenses effects here ---> http://www.cokin.co.uk/pages/effects3.htm ![]() The original photo is the small one on the top left corner, what I do not like from this is the blur and fuzzy images it makes when duplicating the photo parts. ![]() ___________________________________________________________________________________ A BAD thing is that the real filter makes some fuzzy images and blurs badly sometimes the photo duplicates, and this is something that could be fixed and eliminated in the digital FF filter, so this would be better than the real thing ____________________________________________________________________________________ The full description is
I will look for some GOOD examples to put here so you can see better what is the real final result |

Those filters were very popular in the 70's and 80's among video photographers. If you happen to have your parents' super-8 (or 8mm, depends when they were married" wedding video, you may see those filters in action.
I think it should be rather easy to create this effect in FF. |

It's more of a proof of concept than a real filter right now, as there's MUCH to be done...
I won't have much time next two weeks to work on this, so if you guys want I can post it here for you to keep working on it. |

WOW !!! You have made this so fast !! ![]() You have done very well the seven filter version. How could be done the 25 images version ? Would be in the same way or would be by multiplying the FF components? Sorry to ask this as I do not know how you have done and what components are involved Please, upload what you have done and will see what I can do. Thanks very much for taking the time to make this and for your help |

Here's what I've done.
The 25 lenses version could be done the same, it's just a matter of adding more offsets and blends. Here's a rundown on how the filter works: 1) Take the center of the image with a circle shape as alpha. 2) Scale down the image so it fits many times on the original image 3) Use another circle shape alpha to remove the duplicates produced by the scale component. 4) Offset the scaled image to 6 locations around the center. If you want more lenses, you just add offsets, calculating the right offset for each. 5) Blend all 6 offsets ogather. 6) Blend the original scaled center (Without offset) on top of the other blends. 7) Add the original picture as a background. The controls you have allow the user to select the size of the center portion and the alpha gradient and the size of the effect on the image. Right now you can't move the center portion around (Let's say to the eye of the kingfisher) as it's fixed to the center of the original image. Right now the filter only works on square images. Need to take care of that too. 70's Video FX.ffxml |

WOW! WOW!!! this filter is MUCH MORE than what I could have expected!!
It is very well done and lovely, and it is not a SIMPLE duplicating image, it has good options to configure and optimize the duplicated borders and love the settings options you have put. Very well built and constructed, and well thought the solution on how to mix and duplicate the images, and well done also the idea to put the central image over the others so it does not get blocked. And you made this very fast and so you know very well how to do this kind of things and be able to combine the components to be getting this results. I would have never guessed it, as I am a very first beginner. THANKS REALLY VERY MUCH !!! THANKS REALLY VERY MUCH !!! THANKS REALLY VERY MUCH !!! ![]() |

I'm glad you like it SpaceRay, but I'm sure one of the FF master filterers could make this one much better.
If anyone wants go give it a go and edit this filter, you're erlcome to do so, as I would love to learn how to make it better. |
