vladimir,

could you check the queue for me? i've submitted at least two filters for approval and gotten no approvals or rejections yet and i know that others have submitted since mine and gotten something back.

also, just to verify i'm doing this right, i pick 'Filter\submit to library...' in the menu and get a wizard which i run through and it seems fine each time.

i also know that you have the right email address for me since i was sent emails approving my beta status.

Craig -- I'll be brief (sorry, too busy for the long answer, will get back to this topic when I finish the tasks at hand):

- Both your filters are still in the queue
- The submit wizard works fine, no bugs here
- Your email address is right
- We're preparing editorial guidelines to deal with submissions (50+ filters so far)
- The submissions will be processed as soon as the guidelines are in place

Sorry again for the short answer -- I'll get back to this topic later.

vladimir,

thank you for checking.

one suggestion on the whole submitting process. when i've used the upload feature in your client it has always 'seemed' to work and did give me a notice saying it had succeeded. but i've had uploads like that in other software where it says it succeeded but actually didnt. so, my tendency is to not trust that little message.

so, the sugestion is, stick a little automated email verification on the whole routine. you upload, you get the succeeded message and on your end a small little automated email mailer sends a form letter out to my email box. this would then handle that part of things and a person wouldnt have to wonder if everything worked or not.

i do understand that the actual approval process might take longer, especially since you were having technical problems. so, that's fine. i really just wanted to verify that i had made it to the queue.

Yes, I understand why you'd like to see an email "receipt", but on the other hand, we're trying to keep our outgoing emails to the minimum -- we use email ONLY when it is absolutely necessary.

As for the Submit Wizard (our upload tool), it works perfectly so far -- not a single bug (fingers crossed). I think when we rectify our approval process, the delay won't be such a big problem, since the feedback should come in a day or two.

Update: I'm still working on the submissions -- 52 uploads are still in the queue.

Some technical notes about Submit Wizard.

"Submit successful" is not only a status message smile:) . Communication protocol is two-way and implemented in way to ensure that no error ismissed. If there is a technical problem, you'll see an apropriate message. Also there is "Too many filters in queue" when you have submitted too many filters.

guys,

i'm fine with it now. i trust it now that i know my uploads are getting through. but i'm wondering if when you release the program and 100 people buy the program and start submitting new filters, what will be their reaction? and what about 1000? 5000? i can potentially see a lot of email/forum traffic being generated asking the same questions i just did because they dont know for sure if their uploads got through. once you know it's working with some sort of acknowledgement/verification, it's not a problem any more. so, an external (coming from somewhere other than the originating program) verification makes sense to me.

We already have more than 1200 registered beta testers, and the amount of work in the submit queue is crazy -- and it keeps growing every hour. We're going to rewrite and redeploy our admin tools to cope with this load.

1200 registered beta testers? my goodness. where are they? i thought we had a fairly small group in the forums.

as for the work in the submit queue, perhaps you'd want to open that up to some outside help also.
