Hi guys, I'm new here. *hello*
One of my questions is if a Map- or Curve script is faster compared to a dedicated component with the same functionality - in case one drops not needed features of the component for a certain/specific task. A simple example: "Bomber" has numerous options. Could it be faster if one recreates it by a script with only a handful of them? Don't get me wrong: I don't want to (neither can) invent a new "Bomber". The question is if there's a gain in speed if only parts of it would be realized by a script. Or would the "Bomber"-component still be more efficient? |

I would expect that a Bomber component written in Lua will be noticeably slower than the native one. I'm not a developer though and may be missing something.

It all depends - the script in general is slower. For example if you replicate a simple operation like Invert in a script it is 18 times slower than a single build in Invert component instance.
The bomber is like the Walmart of Filter Forge functionality with octaves, coffee machine, bend/blend this and that and what not. If you simply want a random distributer sort of thingie, you might get lucky with the script or loop functionality (see attached example) Super fast Bomber.ffxml |

Thank you all.
@Sphinx: Helpful link; next time I'll check the wiki first. Unfortunately the "fast Bomber" doesn't open here. Error: "You need a newer version of FilterForge." But mine is up-to-date (v4.013 Pro.Ed.). Did you create it with the beta? |

No it was created with an earlier version, but I had it opened with V5. I think the beta is FF5-ing up my existing filters somehow.. sorry.
