I have see this artist on Pinterest from Devianart that likes to make cubism like art based on usual known things

Tommervik cubism artworks

The link shows only one, but you can see more on his work there

I did choose this one in the link and below attached, because this gave me the idea to be able to make a cubism art filter that is able to do the following:

1 - Make a triangular or square shape with a good visible outline to add impact and separate it

2 - cut a part of the source image to be put inside the square or triangular shape of point 1

3 - dettach it and offset it or rotate it removing the source image original part so is only shown the shape enclosed part

4 -'add a drop shadow to separate it from other parts

5 - repeat this 4 points many times with different squares or triangles of different sizes with different parts of the source image

It would be good to avoid much overlapping of the shapes and that is made in a similar way as the image shown below

it will be a challenge for me as I really do not know yet how this can be done, but I can try to search and learn how this can be done, and think that it would be able to make it

Although I will try to make it myself, anyone that like the idea and challenge is welcome also to participate and it could be a possible race in some way, to see who is able to make the best version and better done

If you have a better idea on how to make it or another different way is also welcome too

I may take a stab at this. I see possibilities. smile8)

Off this topic to:
FYI: SpaceRay, that font experiment worked out, the Arial snippet allows the font to be made wider or more narrow with a constant height.

What you describe should be quite doable with Bomber+

Thanks Rick Duim and ThreeDee, glad that you may like the idea and that could be done probably

I am still trying to make without much success, I mean that what I got is not what I really want, I will show it with a screenshot later

I have tried many different ways to make this possible, and searched much through the forum and filter library for things that could help to make this possible, but after a long time and much hours trying I can not find the way to do it, and I feel ashame of the ways I have tried, so I will only share the last filter I tried that is most similar, but not good.

I was totally wrong when I suggested this challenge to be made by myself, I do not know how could I think that I could be able to find a way to do it, when I still have a lot to learn of FF, and I have thought that I could be able able to figure out how to do this.

This was not a thread to suggest a filter idea, and that others could work to make it possible, I wanted to make it myself, but was in a unrealistic world when I thought it

I have been too much optimistic and feeling that I could find a way to do it, but it has been very frustating and badly feeling when I was failing many times and not even getting close to it

I remember that Skybase told me very well and wisely, that to become and FF expert, I have to learn first from small things and then continue with bigger ones, and do not try to go straight to complex things, learn to walk first before want to run, and I have found a even better one

I was wrong thinking I could fly, when I still have to learn to run and walk first, and can not think about flying before learning these

The thing to me is that you have an obsession for trying to make everything using FilterForge, when in fact good ol' fashion brain storming ideas and manual labour can accomplish a million times more than what filterforge does. I think the thing with FilterForge is of course the convenience of being able to process images while you sleep.

As usual, like I always say, stop thinking about making giant filters, make small simple ones that do one portion of the process, and you can still manually handle the rest.

Thanks for your wise and good comments Skybase, you bring me right to the ground in the right and useful way, and you are more realistic than me.

Well, It may be true, and I may agree that sometimes I could be able to think to do the thing in a more appropiate and that does not involve building a script or a filter to do it.

I already know that I could make this cubism art style much faster, better and with very high custom control by just cut the squares or triangles in photoshop and then just move and rotate them, and then add stroke lines and drop shadow, very simple and easy

BUT this will get me only one version of it, and then I have to start from scratch again to make a second version, and the same for a third, or fourth. SO this is why I thought I could use filter forge to make multiple and different variations, and choose the ones I may like most.

Also is true that FF is very slow for previewing and waiting for the result to appear and see if you like it or not, so it would be much better and faster to use a realtime graphics accelerated software like Photoshop or any other graphic 2D that can make this.

SURE, from now on I will not think anymore about making big complex filters, will try to make small ones or create some based on other parts I already know how to make,

As said I will not continue trying to make this filter, as I do not know how to do it, and do not want to bother any of you to ask for help to do it, and keep building it, because there is no base to build it as I am making it wrong from start most probably as you can see in this filter that I put here that I am using wrongly the offset and rotation to cut the source image

Sorry that I do not give credit to the source filters as I do not remember which ones I have used

As said I tried many different ways but all have been wrong, and the only one that is more similar and closer to this is this filter here, but still wrong way to do it as the rotations are badly done and have bad control over the squares or possible triangles.

As said by ThreeDee maybe there can be a better way with Bomber Plus but do not know how to do it and do not want to bother you asking how to do it
