Hi,
This is my second filter but it is my first non-photographic filter. I learned a lot with this one. It is called ‘Blinds’. Here is the description: This filter adds blinds to a photo - or a window in a photo. Precise control of the amount the blinds are open or closed make it easy to use for animation. Height and width control allow custom fit to any window. Color and number of slats can also be changed. If anyone has suggestions on how it could have been done better or how it could be improved they would be very much appreciated. The presets work well but the previews look like crap so please doesn’t decide not to look at it based on that. I don’t know why they look so bad. If you have time play around with the settings and let me know what you think. Thanks, Ron Blinds u1x.ffxml @ronviers |

Thanks uberzev,
I intentionally didn’t search the database because I didn’t want to get discouraged. I figured there were others but I bet they are not as crazy as mine internally. At one point this one was about three times larger but I realized I had been doing a lot of things in needlessly complicated ways and it reduced to this. I bet it could be cut in half again if I was good. Thanks for looking and the feedback, Ron @ronviers |

Hi Ron,
I took a look at both filters and prefer yours because the blinds are more isolated and not just a view of the center (make sense). As you know when I am not in email with family then I'm making digital scrapbooks to send to Mom. ((Thanks for making this filter)). Love it~ Persidio |

ron,
very nicely done. i like that you even put the holes in the slats where the rope/cord/pull goes. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Hi Persidio,
Thank you for the beautiful new graphic. When I saw it I was surprised by the unusual layout of the blinds and the drift in phase of the shape of the slats. I thought I had made it impossible for the user to make out of bounds selections. Now I realize that the filter does not work perfectly with a slat number less than 21 and it only works as designed if the image is square. I will see if I can address these issues with an update. That said, the shortcomings of the filter in no way diminish the value of the image to me. I have to look in to the HDR lighting thing you mentioned. I am not familiar with that. Is that a component? Hi Kraellin, Thanks for the positive comment and the previous help. Everyone probably already knows of the blur/threshold combination to makes things round but I am proud to say that I discovered it myself. @ronviers |

Hi Ron,
I don't think it needs an update~ as I'm having way too much playing with it on last years flowers. Here's another one. You know what the original image looks like because I sent you free with permissions on this one via email; and I think I specially mentioned they were great for filter testing ![]() Don't 'cha touch that blinds filter boy!~ ROFL. ((kidding)) Also I'm all caught up on email with family today... now back to the blinds filter... I havn't tried it on digital scrapbooking yet but I have some interesting ideas. Persidio P.S. Forgot to mention; I also used "your" Lab Enhance on this image. ![]() ![]() |

I wouldn’t think of changing it after seeing your graphics. Thanks for the positive comments. I did a little animated GIF using Image Ready and Photoshop’s vanishing point filter to show the blinds opening and closing in perspective but when I tried to post it it got converted to a jpg.
I like the girl behind the blinds, when I saw it I thought of Betty Boop. ![]() @ronviers |

Hi Kraellin,
TY~ I don't get real serious when fooling around with the filters ((just playing)); I'm a big fan of Ron's filters and do use them in the more serious projects I work on. Right now that would be digital scrapbooking because of Mom's Breast Cancer. For someone new to Filters Ron has a way of making filters that are practical and useful. He's just a natural talent. If you ever want me to have a sneak peak at your filter just email it to me at rogue_river@hotmail.com ((I love getting filters in email)). And I'm in email most every day checking for emails from family right now so it's a good place to catch me. And if you have a running thread I'll try the filter on some images too. Like a filter fashion show hey? Hi Ron, LOL on Betty Boop~ I went thru a Betty Boop phase under the Fair Use Copyright law when I animated her as part of animation lesson. Belive it was 18 frames and I'd redone her in a cheerleading costume. LOL I don't animate anymore and prefer to work with stills. .gif changed to a .jpg... humm. Would have to talk to the forum admin on that one to see if .gif's could be allowed? Not sure what to tell ya. I would think animated .gif's are allowed but then again I'm new to the FF forum... so... Humm. Wait a min I've heard of this happening before and the animation still occurs. Weird but true. This is going to sound very strange but try uploading again and give see if it animates. I've seen this in other forums... (((really))). Persidio |
