Hey there,
So, the library will not take a filter that has a red warning node on an input spot. I understand WHY this is so, however, the 'fix' the warning has given me is unacceptable. So I turn to you. If I want to have ONE control for multiple inputs (in this case, Repeat H and Repeat V on the tile maker), and I don't want them all to have the exact same value, which control should I use? FF wants me to use an INTslider; however, this means I cannot limit the minimum value for that slider. With the regular slider control, set to remap, I could limit the lower value as well as the upper one. What this means for my current filter is that I have to have a slider in which the only values that are usefully are the last quarter of the slider. Anything below that 'breaks' the look of the slider. Any hints on how I can do this? If my blathering is confusing, check the file; the first group of three is what I want. The second group is my attempt with the intsliders; all are locked to be exactly double the value (the step being the only 'variance' control we get) IntSlider mess.ffxml |

Hi Mousewrites,
This could be fixed if FF added profile input components. These would be little blue squares that could be dragged to any connector line or remap box. I am always wishing for these. Good luck, Ron @ronviers |

there are currently only two components that will plug in to the repeat h and repeat v inputs, an intslider and a checkbox. so, there is no secret tip that we can give you here. i've often wondered why the intslider doesnt have the min/max limiters too. and i do mostly understand why normal sliders wont plug in there, since it would be a bit odd to repeat by 1.39 or some other floating point number (though not impossible).
so, the solution is we wait for FF to come out with something a little bit better. i think this is on the list already but not real sure. i'd certainly like that added to the intslider. in the meantime, about the best you can do is put something in the description of the filter warning users about the 'breaking'. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Ouch. Ok, I can deal.
Except the library will NOT accept it. It says "I'm sorry, but we cannot accept a filter with a 'warning' on it" or somesuch. I guess I'll just have to make the window size in the filter fixed. Which sucks, but, there ya go. |
