Hi, I want to use the tiles component because it includes the jumble option to make bits of the image jumble and shuffle.

The problem is that if you want to tile the image ONLY vertical or ONLY horizontal is not possible because the tile component the minimum value is 1 and there is no 0 value, and using value 1 will break the image in half in 2 parts as seen in the screenshot In Tiles Plus happens the same If as I suppose this is not possible, what alternative can be used? Using Profile gradients as I have used already before on my other filters for stripes (10 Images or Color Stripes Mix V2.0 Basic Vertical, could be possible, but I do not know how to emulate the jumble option of the tiles component. I do not need any mortar or edges. Also alternatively if you can modify the filter that I have already made in the link above to make the jumble and shuffle of the stripes in a good way without overlapping, as it happens in the tiles component, it would be good too. Thanks very much for any help |

The little example I attached should give you a clue as to how it works.

I'm using an offset to jumble the positions of each slice. So think about it this way, the offset pushes or pulls the image in specific directions as indicated by the input value. So the Profile Gradient gray-scale image is what drives the offset X input hence the look. Note that the profile gradient is fully responsible for shifting the positions of the image. Therefore, you can rotate the profile gradient horizontally to produce a horizontal jumble effect. Of course, you can have this at any angle you want anyway. Try swapping it out with a free gradient or go crazy and use kaleidoscope to manipulate the positions of each slice. The number of steps on the step curve will dictate the number of slices the filter will produce. Nifty yeah? ![]() Gradient Offset.ffxml |

Addendum: I made that with a profile gradient which works with square images but not so much with images that aren't squares unless you're looking to make a texture.

To make this work with not-square ratio images, use the free gradient and set the XY anchor to Image Bounds. |

OH! Yes, this is what I wanted to have, like it, thanks very much for explaining it so well, and taking the time to do it

I agree that is a nifty and good idea to do it this way |
