i have found the artwork of Michael Lang with these combined thick lines texture filled with shadows mixed in different positions and sizes as shown on the screenshot below
labyrinth-michael-lang As seen in the screenshot below, the thick lines have different widths, lenghts, sizes, and amount Then I remembered that CFandM gave me a filter to make similar thick lines filled with source images as shown on this thread lines filter by CFandM in this thread So I have thought to try to emulate and probably find a way if possible to make a thick lines generator with FF I do not want to emulate that beautiful gradients as I have no idea how to make them I do not know if this could be easy, or maybe too complex to make, have to see what can I do If you have any possible tips or advice would be welcome Thanks ![]() |

This artist has also another artwork similar
levels-of-order--michael-lang These artworks have a great depth thanks to the overlay of layers of lines with shadows and lights ![]() |

Well I have started to make this and have to say that I was wrong in the first post thinking that I could make this using the CFandM filter as it will not work this way, because for making the above suggested images you must have INDIVIDUAL control for each of the lines and not in a group as it happens with the CFandM
Here is the test done with the CFandM filter if anyone wants to have it but is totally different from the above as seen on the screenshot ![]() |

Will have to start again and find a way to have multiple individual lines that can work together in a combined way
Here is the filter anyway if anyone could be interested Lines double overlay.ffxml |

Well it didn't go as planned but at least you know one method doesn't work. I take that a positive thing. I'd rather see people try stuff at least before asking for a particular filter to be made.
Fr om what I'm seeing you can probably construct the pattern by some kind of iterative approach. If you recall some old threads I've discussed this wh ere you use a jumbled tile over and over creating complex shapes. The tricky thing is to distribute the texture appropriately without it becoming too small. I can't do it now but I may come back to this since it looks cool. |

My suggestion.
Take a single line. Use it as particle for a Bomber. Then create the shadow and use it as particle for a second Bomber. Blend the two Bombers result together and you should get something like the pictures you showed. |

Thanks for your comments Skybase and Ramlyn
I think that you are right about the bomber I will see what I can do
I agree, it will not go as planned always, specially if I am not an great expert like you. And it must be like these people
Yes, I agree, and is the right thing, you have to try yourself it first and try to do it in the way you can and think it could work, and then if not, you can ask for something you may be missing or do not know. I do not expect and want that anyone work for free for me |

Before the Ramlyn suggestion I have been trying to make some examples with normal bomber using the Line Drawing scrippet by ThreeDee but the results with bomber are very similar to the filter I already done before stripes filter in library and this is not at all near close to what I want
using bomber plus and randomizer may be better for random sizes and width of rectangles, but does not works as expected, as I still do not understand correctly how the randomizer of bomber plus works So I will try then the Ramlyn suggestion now Here is the filter result of the failed test, in the comments of filter is explained more Planks Lines different sizes.ffxml |

Hi, thanks really very much Ramlyn for trying to make something like my idea I agree with ronjonnie that the 5th image is very cool and well done, like it much the effect and composition, is very good and interesting, and would like to see it, although going back to the topic of this thread is not what I suggested, but as said is still great The 6th image is also cool and looks like the buttons by ThreeDee filter made with rectangles but not what wanted THE LAST IMAGE LOOKS GREAT I am really impressed and think is awesome that the last image show is really the best and closest one to what I suggested above and very good and well done. It can be good to use with textured source images, but it seems that it will take the source color and not the texture of the source image itself. Although this can be good anyway, it would good also if you can have bits of the source image inside each plank or rectangle |

I have followed the Ramlyn suggestion although not exactly yet
1 - Using Bomber plus with the Free Rectangle and using my own drop shadow Here is the filter using the bomber although still not done as suggested by Ramlyn separating the shadow with a second bomber There is much work still to be done as it is a very basic version, so I do not put any screenshot, I feel ashamed compared to what Ramlyn have already shown, sorry. 2 - In this one instead of using the bomber I have used the Random size and rotate by voldemort with the same Free Rectangle and my own drop shadow as above
Also is a very basic and simple version and needs much work NOTE These last 2 filters are for FF 6.o, the filter above these last two is for FF 5.0 Planks Random size and rotate.ffxml |

My filter is basically simply a blend of the results of two bombers.
The particles are composed by a colored rectangle blended with the same rectangle in black color. I apply blur to give the shadow feeling. The direction of the shadow and the light is controlled with a gradient. All effects are generated changing the position and the size of the particles. |

Thanks very much Ramlyn, this is a very good idea and will try it exactly as you said and see what I can get with it
Sorry that I do not what you mean that the shadow is controlled by a gradient. If you have said that the shadow is done with the same rectangle but with added some blur to simulate the shadow, then how this can be controlled by a gradient, or maybe the gradient is applied to the blur effect Thanks again for your great and useful help |

I firstly set the color with Lookup.
Then I use a switch connected with many different gradients. The Gradient sets the opacity of the color that represents how the light hits the rectangles. (The two Scale components are of no use. I'm still working on the filter) Then I work on the shadow : Brightness / Contrast makes the rectangle black. Then I Blur it. A new Brightness / Contrast is used to avoid that the blurred image may take a strange gray color. Then I blend the shadow with a transparent background, using the Gradient to put the shadow in the opposite direction of the light. I blend all together, and done. |

I have tried and it works right the shadows, and looks good, but the problem seems to be that the rectangles are limited by the bomber size limits and they look small and are enclosed in their own tiles of bomber even when using size 100? Maybe with bomber plus is different?
![]() How can be done to make this big and long rectangles fill all the image using bomber? I have used either polygon and free rectangle without success, it works correctly as shown on the first filter above because I did not use the bomber to make it I can only get straight and diagonal rectangles, but are more like these one shown here below ![]() Also have tried to search if other filters break the bomber limit of shapes size, but could not find any. I will put later what I have done and show it Thanks |

I have seen that Ramlyn has made available this filter in the library
Scratched Rectanglex by Ramlyn Although it does not have the nice gradients shown above by Ramlyn, it has some (ugly for me, sorry) perlin noise surface |
