I was looking at the structure of a filter today to try and determine how to go about making an auto-update script for them but I see no indication in the ffxml file for which components are obsolete. Am I missing something here?

If I share an ffxml file and someone else loads it there will be the same obsolete components on their instance as I had to start with but how can that be if the ffxml file has no indication of such obsolete nodes?

Could you guys please shed some light on this for me? smile:)

Well, I think I may have found my answer. It's super subtle if I'm right.

Assemble HSB = assemblehsb3
Assemble HSB 2.004 = assemblehsb2
Assemble HSB 1.017 = assemblehsb

Perhaps someone could confirm this?

I'll dig into it more either way later though. If this is what indicates component versions I can work with that to make the upgrade script. It's not gonna be as easy as I had hoped but it should be fine I think.

It would be helpful to know which components can be swapped outright and which ones have new settings or options to account for. I guess if no one has a list like that laying around I'll have to make one later.

Components can only be considered obsolete in regard with a specific Filter Forge version. For example, in FF 2.0 assemblehsb2 is the uptodate version - and it will show up as "Assemble HSB" in the Channels category.
This also means if we release some updates to components in FF 9.0, your script will break.

Officially, no components can be swapped outright.
