whenever i make a change in a filter, i also update the name of the filter with a version number. will the submit process realize this or do i need to do a re-submit with the same name as before? worse, i sometimes change a whole filter name. should i put something in the description to notify you guys of this change? it's basically the same filter with updates but the name may have changed, slightly or drastically.

When you submit an update and mark it as such you will be asked to which of your filters this is an update. If you renamed it there will be an additional confirmation box ala "Are you sure that this is the same filter?".

The only problem that (to my knowledge) is not yet addressed is if you send updates to submissions that haven't yet been approved.

Mario -- that's not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is that our approval pipeline is currently incapable of dealing with the stream of submissions. We're trying to find ways to make it more automatic, flexible and transparent to the authors, and this is precisely why I wasn't very active in these forums during the past few days.

How about if you implement something like a Digg system with the filter submissions - this would mean that all submissions are immediately visible to everyone, maybe in an "new submission" folder. People can check out the filters and if they like them "digg" them. When a filter has a certain amount of good feedback it gets automatically marked for official approval.

That's exactly my first priority at the moment.
