I have seen this Photoshop action that is able to make Kaleidoscope images based on ANY shape you may want that will cut the source image
As seen in the examples shown Kaleidoscope shape based Photoshop action I have thought that maybe it could be done that you could choose a shape (PNG with transparent background or selection) and use this shape to cut the source image given, and then with this cut shape, you can make the kaleidoscope effect as seen on the examples As I understand it the built-in kaleidoscope already does this with the 7 modes included (really only 4 shapes), but as this is very limiting, it would be good to make a filter that could be able to use custom shape that you could use for the Kaleidoscope AND also is important if possible to be able to preview the cut of the source image to know what part of the source image is used according to the shape you have given, please see the second post below for an example made by Rachel Duim ![]() |

Would be very good to have something like the awesome and amazing Wallpaper Group filters made by Rachel Duim 17 Wallpaper groups by Rachel Duim Here below is a screenshot of the preview seed of the Wallpaper group 11 So to make it clear, what I suggest is to be able to replace the triangle shown on the screenshot with ANY shape you may want and and have a kaleidoscope effect ![]() |

OH!! Yes, is something like this!! I have not thought about using the loop component, great, awesome and well done, now I can add myself the preview seed to this one taken from the Rachel Duim filter and will try to see what other shapes can be used to customise it and how can be modified. Like it Thanks very much for making it and admire that you have been so fast to make it and admire your FF knowledge, and not only for this, also for the other things you have shown on the forum I have thought also as an alternative version, to add some drop shadows to the individual shapes and see how they look |

I had forgot about this and I have found it again and think that I can continue making it into a full customizable version and then send it to the FF library
I have also found the Kaleido FX software that also makes something like this and think I can do it for free in FF although would be slower and not realtime Thanks very much emme for your expert and help and admire much the things you are able to do Is interesting and helpful to see how you have used the Loop component nested and with position to learn even more |

I have made some advance with this and here is a beta version that is still in development and needs more things but can be used better with some controls
Activate the Seed Zoom View Seed to be able to configure your source image over the mask The mask can be any polygon from triangle, square, pentagon until circle than can be configured with the Mask Sides There is still a problem that I need to solve as shown on preset 11 that there is a tile repeat that is different to the others and does not move as the others Want to give thanks to Rachel Duim for the help of configuring the seed to make this possible as I have taken her way to do it that is very good shapescope v001 controls new.ffxml |
