Hey folks, I've been struggling with the following problem for a while so I figured I'd run this by the community smile:)
So, I have a black and white mask like this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g3jUp...sp=sharing

I'd need to produce a fatter, cruder version of it, resembling a shape as if it was cut out of a magazine or something:

Note the straight lines and that it entirely covers the original shape.
I'd appreciate any tips on how to achieve this. smile:)

Here is a simple idea.

Hehe thanks Ramlyn, this was my first attempt as well. smile:) I also tried driving a flat stones noise with the mask but still not quite what I'm after.

Here's an example using Stairs, Blur and Threshold. Lines are not all straight, but it looks like a paper cut in some ways. If this works for you I'll post it.

Thanks but the polygonal look is very important, curvy contours don't fit the context it's going to be used in.

This is the best I could come up with using 8 Cells, union and intersection rules and scaling. Probably too jagged, but an interesting exercise. If it is possible to get this working better, I think using tangents to follow the edges would work better...

Hehe exactly, I've tried many different ways and I too keep arriving at this sort of result: straight lines but a bunch of corners are sticking out. I have no idea how to snip them off.
Hm, I'll see what I can use tangents/derivatives for...

They are indeed on the right path.
I tested derivatives but I couldn't use them to produce anything better than what was already posted here.
I'll spend tonight on this but on Monday I'll have to start manually drawing the masks. :\
