DIY Flat Tiling (The power of curves)

Since I started using FF I've had the feeling that Valdimir and the guys 'n girls hadn't put in all those blue curve thingies just to look pretty.
They are not at all intuitive - sometimes giving a quite unexpected reponse - but I'm sure that there's a lot of power hidden in there.

I set myself a challenge of doing a Flat Tiling Filter using curves. Thanks to, or in spite of, a couple of beers I finished it (see attachment), though tomorrow I'll probably kick myself when someone does the same thing with half the components.

Hope you find this interesting.

Anybody have any good examples of using curves?

Yes, curves can be very powerful -- just try them with Perlin Noise.

Well, the curves themselves work exactly the same way as Photoshop's Curves adjustment -- the only difference is that our curves are generated parametrically.
