Maybe you filter twisters can help me out of this mind block.

I am trying to punch a hole in a wall (pictorially, not literally....unless i cant figure this out)...as you can see, I get a nice hole selection in my bricks, unfortunatly the mortar also ends up being cut out. I have tried quite a few things, but of no real success. Does anyone have an idea they can share with me? I am probably forgetting something very basic....but for now I am stuck in my mind block. You might have to make the mortar seperate from that pict..Use the blend to put them on different layers..
You can even post the filter it might help a little more... Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

Good idea, here is the basic components of the filter.

I have one row that has a nicely masked black hole, and another that has a nicely masked wall. The only problem is there is no way (that I have found) to blend the masks and not have the mortar show up. Rawn brickhole-test.ffxml |

Looking good Rawn the shadow and brick texture work well the real challenge would be to give the bricks around the hole depth [ faces ], the shadow works for giving that illusion

Yeah...adding real depth to the bricks wasnt working but between the shadows and the highlighting of the edges of the brick, i think it provides a bit of the illusion.

Its not perfect realism, but could be an interesting frame for pictures anyway. Rawn |

Big Scary Head LOL using Mr and your first name is a colloquial term of affection/humor here, as in Mr Carl, but I'll take you up on CF

I have an idea of how you can make a hole in the wall not have those random floating bricks....

Use frame to get a black circle, distor and stretch that circle and than put it as the noise of the brick, so instead of the brown standard color have the circle be the color of the bricks. Changes the bricks to solid fill, and you will have a rough circle blown out of the wall with no floating bricks. You can then color the remaining white bricks however you want to. P.S. I am glad that my nickname has stuck for the big scary floating head... |

If I understand your idea, that is pretty well what I actually did do
Though the random brick holes actually give it a little character i think Rawn |
