FF is a nodal editor, so several filter may be assembled to create new one
what is the etiquette for the credit to the author of the nodes used as component ? A simple example (not sure if praticable, i didn't look to the components so may be too slow for any paratical use ) This is a cool render "Straw "filter from Genie http://www.filterforge.com/filters/5330.html this a excellent effect filter from Golovin http://www.filterforge.com/filters/8766.html Now FF 3 support blending modes so assemble the 2 to create a new filter to create a straw with stamped on a graphic version of the original image should be very simple But then i will felt a bit ashamed to consider myself its author ...so how you do for the credits ? |

You can always post the filter in the fourms....
![]() Otherwise if you do use parts of another filter or a snippet, scrippet, etc.. its polite and good filter etiquette to give credit to the original authors of said filter, snippet, etc......Or you can mail the authors and ask.. ![]() ![]() Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times! |

one of the basic philosophies of filter forge seems to be sharing. the entire filter library is free to anyone with the program, any version, any level. the eulas both reflect this, too. an end user is free to use any filter from the library any way he so chooses without liability from the company or the original author. the author eula also states this same principle, but letting the authors know that if they submit their filters to the library, they do retain copyrights, but they are guaranteeing that filter forge may use them however they see fit. the whole structure of filter forge is based around this. thus, you can use and mod anyone's filter from within the library. you can even combine filters or alter filters and re-submit them... with one exception: if you were not the original author and are submitting a modded filter, it is up to the discretion of filter forge, inc. as to whether there is a significant enough variation in your modded filter to warrant it being allowed into the library as a new filter.
we've had clones before, those filters that are so close or not even modded and just re-submitted, that they've been removed from the library and hopefully the errant 'author' was chastised or whatever. we've also seen filters get modded and be accepted into the library as a new filter. i've actually done this, myself. i modded one of steviej's filters and submitted it and it was fine. however, i also made sure i made mention in the description that this was steve's original filter. regardless of any legalities, though, CFandM is totally correct; it's just plain polite! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Just give proper credit:
If you poke around the library there are plenty of filters which say something to this effect. It's just good manners. If you fail to give proper credit, expect to be mocked by the community!
