i like that first one best, red. if you could get that pattern into a marble look, as the veins in the marble, i think that would be cool, too.

It looks like a water beed on the top and a water soaked on the bottom encroaching on the gritty area.....which could lead to some neat water effects, eh???

interesting that you see this as water. i was trying to, but couldnt quite make it fit in my head that way. so, i kept seeing glass. lol. happens every time, doesnt it; you say potaato, i say potahto
oh, re the clouds... didnt i tell you? i dont finish anything any more. i just start things. lol. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

LOL.... I definitely see glass too......so you're not crazy.....
That irregular top edge reminds me of how a water beed edge clings to glass.....
So you're going to make me pester you forever about it, eh??? "The Monster II"..... Well, if you would like some outside input into developing the clouds, variations, sunsets, etc.....I would be glad to help. I will send everything that I come up with back to you and won't submit/redistribute any of it because it's your baby. It seems like it would be a good colaborative project that I would enjoy doing while benefitting from the results..... ![]() Steve

now, if we could just get the raw, paying public to 'pester us'... somehow, i think we've been 'giving away the milk for free' here, steve. might be time to shore up the fences. nothing like displaying one's wares but refusing to publish that might make buyers pay more attention. I was going to suggest a "divide & conquer" approach to advance some new "horizons" on the clouds, sunsets, thunderheads, light rays, sun, moon, etc.....maybe even get Capt'n "sweet-cheeks" Carl
in on it too if he's interested.....
Even if we don't submit them, we could certainly get some personal use out of them.....and if FF ever decides to get into texture pack sales, they would be ready to go and crank out some serious packs from them, eh??? ![]() Steve

steve, i can hardly claim contract or copyright on something i've not published, especially the idea of clouds and such. there's no reason you, or anyone else, cant work on these independently. as you've pointed out with the posted images here and in the gallery, there are many, many filters that could be done along these lines.

in the meantime, i'm perfectly willing to sell you the filter or lease it to you on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis  (aint i a sh*t? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Clouds are something I haven't tried yet, but I'm in the middle of too many other things to really go for them currently. Kraellin's example renders looked like the best FF clouds I've seen though.

StevieJ, I really like those last three cloud examples -- especially that last one.

I'd love to see the filters' internals -- but if they never get posted/submitted I understand the "giving away the milk for free" problem Kraellin pointed out... (For me, my art projects have never developed into anything more than just a fun hobby. ...It's kind of too bad we all have to live in a material world...) By the way, if nothing else, people posting "teaser images" (without posting the filters) helps inspire me to think up my own ideas/solutions -- so maybe there is something creative-inducing (for us, others) in not fully disclosing all the info... |

Hey ssamm, only a couple in both strings about 'clouds' have been FF generated (pretty easy to guess which ones.....

----I would agree, Reaktor is like Genetica compared to FF (ie = not anywhere near as user friendly overall). I would suggest you look into SynthEdit, and/or Synthmaker, especially if it's just for your own use, and not for later retail, as none of those, Reaktor/SE/SM, are very good as far as selling your creations goes. SM is probably the closest to FF from what I've seen, although I have not used it, it *looked* a bit closer and friendler like icon/graphic stylewise. To be perfectly honest with ya, at this point in time, there isn't much that hasn't been hand coded as far as normal sounding stuff in the audio realm. If you are looking for a good synth or effect of a certain already defined type then message me, I can probably point you toward several to try the demos of. In the end, commercial "hand-coded" stuff is superior is most ways (if only speed/cpu-wise, even FF freely admits that individually coded filters are considerabley faster than the FF equivalent, and same for Reakor/SE/SM created audio synths and effects). jffe Filter Forger |

LOL.... I have some.....but now Craig has revitalized my interest in taking it much further.....spectacular dawns, sunsets, thinderheads with lightning, above cloudline panaramas, etc etc ect......so much can be done.....and the filters are reletively fast considering that they are primarily combined thresholded layers of distorted perlins and a truckload of prof grads..... i only use one prof grad on the clouds themselves. i use 2 more in the zoom function, though. i've now got three different types going, the thinner ones, the fluffies and a new one i've been testing which puts the horizen in the middle, a la' steve's images.

			    LOL....
Craig, I'm using at least three to emulate sun/point source lighting for each different layer and cloud type.....all set in the same direction to emulate that light is hitting everything from the same source..... ![]() Steve

try a 3 color gradient set to horizontal, steve. that will give you a nice horizen to work with a light source if you make the middle color quite bright, at least for the ambient. for more direct, your method probably works better.
