check out this collection of RW "fractals", looks pretty cool:

Yes, they are really very beautiful and amazing. It´s nice how the nature can make such a beauty in fractal style, what is bad is such a beauty is lost if not seen from far above in the space, or thanks to a satellitte

What is most lovely is the great amount of tones and color ranges and gradients that are in this photos !!

As far as I see and recognize it seems that all these are rivers, and to create this reasult it must have taken hundreds (or thousand) of years, and I wonder, would it be possible to create something similar to this beauty in a few minutes using FF? (challenge here smile;) ) instead of waiting so much time and needing to see it through satellitte

Thanks for putting this link.

I already had lots of fun with randomly plugging Nodes into each other and see what happens, reading through all of this gave me more ideas to try out ^^

Yes I agree with you that this is a very interesting thread and needs a sticky but I do think that FF likes sticky threads as the only ones are the fixed ones from the FF team.

Thanks for this bump as I had forgot about this and is useful and interesting to remember it

BUMP = Bring Up The Post ? smile;)

Wikipedia Bump

Quote
To bump a thread on an internet forum is to post a reply to it purely in order to raise the thread's profile. This will typically return it to the top of the list of active threads. It has been suggested that "bump" is an acronym of "bring up my post";[1] however, this is almost certainly a backronym and the usage is entirely consistent with the verb "bump" which means "to knock to a new position".[2] It can also be used in personal messages (PMs) or instant messages (IMs) on the Web, to return an older message to the top of the list.

I made 3 noise patterns with a specific look. Then I subtracted each of them and passed it through absolute value. It's why you see the greenish blends happening when the patterns overlap.

Yep, your method in iterative form, like the previous ones, plus sharpening, a tone split blend, and stuff. Still looking into other cheaper ways to get nice rivers, lightning, feathers and such, pre beta 2 of course.

Oh that the 0 Anti-Aliasing produces higher apparent resolution (on the low areas) than the 25 pass AA. C-a-n-t- f-i-g-u-r-e -i-t -o-u-t !

this was always one of my favorite threads here. time to bump it up again. with all the new components and features, i would think we could see some new variations of "noise" to some good results!

Yes, I agree that this thread is very interesting and very good but the problem I find is that almost all are just and only examples of creations based on noise but does not show or tell HOW they have been done, I mean what is the source component and what has been used to make it.

I mean that all is very nice, cool, amazing and great examples of noise Works, but that is all, as you will not be able to learn to make your own ones, unless with some that has given the filter.

And is not only that you could share the filter, perhaps also explain how and why it was done this way.

Of course that I would never force and ask anyone to share their own secrets and unveil how it was done if the autor does not want, and is still good to see only the final result and creation.
