In case anyone wants to take a further look, there is more goodness here. Some excellent textures, I must say. Seems we got some breadth development work to do... smile;) smile:D

Indeed.

And the whole 'Crystals' theme has only been scratched at the surface, especially when it comes to emulating refraction effects. Loads of potential there...

The first and second look like they were painted on silk, those are lovely! really would make a nice filter and it just might be possible...
the 3rd and 4th are such different styles VERY inspiring!
wow, would be a challenge smile;)

Okay, how about Airbrush or Graffiti spray paint?

One that I came accross that I was going to tackle but cannot at the moment was Sketch Artists. The sketch type that you would see at a trial of some sort. When cameras are not allowed but there are always sketches.. smile:)

I almost have it done smile:) However, have a question. Should I make it look exactly like the preview, or make the metal more ... metally? Also for the holes should I clean up the ugly brown stuff from the example, or leave something like that in?

here's one i just thought of, fish scales. anyone done one like that?

there are still lots of building ones that could be done. first one that comes to mind is vinyl siding. shld be easy.

and how about a marshmallow filter?

and we had some chocolate ones, but never done as candies. that could be challenging. or did jean do one as a box of candies? i think she did.

how about ribbons. those are always in demand.

doilies/lace? shldnt be too hard.

we've also seen several water types, but i dont recall seeing a whitewater, moving water one... you know, like a rapids. or, a rapids over rocks.

we've got many wood filters, but i other than the one worm-eaten one, i dont think i've seen a lot of decayed wood types... you know, like rotten wood planks on a ship or house.

and speaking of ships, how bout a banacles filter? shldnt be too tough.

sails?

masts?

gemstones. cut and uncut. polished and unpolished.

inlaid wood. LOTS of uses for one like that.

lots of stuff still untouched.
If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I am working on one right now, and so far it is sweet if I do say so myself. That is why I have been asking for a odd intslider as of late because my filter would only work in odd incraments. Anyway, got the slider fixed and am on my way to making scales; not using the tile component, and they look really good.

I will probablly replace my dragon hide filter with it, because my dragon hide filter sucks.

I am also plaining on releasing my scale filter in a dumbed down version for a snippet.

I have an interesting computer situation, but I will do my best. So don't expect pictures for about 4 days or so, even though the filter is almost done.

One quick question as well, if you look at another website and see a texture, such as some of the filters above, and make a filter to replicate the look are you violating any copyright laws?

redcap, i dont think so. if you're using any part of their filter, i.e. code, images, etc, then it would be a violation. but, if you're just simulating a look and it's all your creation, then no. the IDEA of the filter isnt copyrightable. in other words, there's nothing to prevent you from going out and painting a new mona lisa. you couldnt sell it as the original; that would be fraud. but you could paint one and sell it as an imitation/duplicate. at least, that's my understanding.

ok, folks, i need a snippet/filter for zooming, stretching, and shrinking that doesnt break non-square images. every zoom/shrink/stretch filter out there uses profile gradients and we all know those break non-square images. i need one that wont!

I have recently bought Filter Forge, but I'm still a noob at creating my own textures. So I must rely on you experiaenced guys!

Here is what I miss:

A realistic concrete, just a normal one.
And:

A concrete with bolt holes, like this: http://www.3dallusions.com/pbarrelas/...oHouse.jpg

A concrete with wood pattern from the building process: http://www.ftella.com/links/Galeria/PFCInigo1.jpg

And Leather! None of the one I have found in the gallery look very realistic
I like this normal brown leather: http://fryrender.com/sh_images/materials/img144.jpg

or this one: http://fryrender.com/sh_images/materials/img54.jpg

or this old leather: http://mxmgallery.maxwellrender.com/i...r_7745.jpg

I'm all for proportional gradients in FF (very important!), but photoshop seems to do fine for those mundane kind of tasks.

dilla, see my window frame thread in the user gallery. what i want is to be able to scale one portion, the window stiles/bars of a window frame but to leave the frame portion alone, so that when i add repeats of the stiles i can proportion them to fit correctly within the window frame. yes, i could do this in ps/psp, but it would be so much easier and elegant to be able to do it within FF.

I took your requests for a leather filter, and just submitted these to the library.
It can do simple clean leather, aged antique leather, and even a version that can carve and tint the leather based on an image.

I have started on a few of these....but I will not set out to claim any, because I never know which of my ideas will turn out and which will get scrapped....and I would not want to discourage anyone else from trying.

I wouldn't either; however, it makes a lot more sense to me for 10 people to be working in 10 different directions than for 10 people to be working on one single filter just to end up getting 10 similiar filters. If the filters I make stink, I hope either people will tell me or I hope that people will try themselves. I just placed dibbs so that we can try and hammer more unique filters out in a relatively short time, if anyone else wants to work on what I have stated I am working on, by all means go for it; however, I would really really like to see more of these filters come out and the sooner the better.

Heres one to try and figure out how to do. Might need to make that sheet of film or whatever it is thou.
The image is made a certain way then you take the sheet and move it over the image and the image is in motion. Flip animation without flipping.
