Yes, I wonder where is Mardar. She misses a lot of things here.
Yes. Gene will go crasy for sure and you will give to him a lot of work (because he will add a lot of bg on) but also a lot of fun. I will go crasy too with your cartoonanimals. ![]() The only person I know that he has problem with a lot of controls is Skybase. But I do not thing that cartoonamilas is his cup of tea. Anyway, please, if you add some more, I'll be glad. ![]() And about the volcano, I would like to email you the filter, a part of it if you want. Because I do not know how to finalyse this. I work on this filter since 3 days and... I'm a bit tired, my head cannot do more for now on this filter. Do you want me to send you the filter by email, not here ? visit https://gisoft.ca |

Sure you can send it if you like and I´ll see if I can fix the seam for you.
You are referring to Skybases post about creating good filters? Tbh I fully agree with him there. I always try to optimize my filters so they have as few controls as possible and spit out decent results if you push the randomizer, not always possible but I try my best ![]() It frustrates me greatly if I have to add in extra controls because I can´t find a way around ![]() And you have to think of the users that don´t create filters (and that´s probably the majority), they don´t understand why your filter breaks if they change values or might finding the controls confusing and then they file your filter under "crap" and never touch it again. Me too tbh. If I try out a filter and half of the controls don´t seem to do anything or spit out crap then I most likely won´t use it. Also don´t expect ppl to read instructions lol. Most don´t ^^ That´s why I won´t submit the filter as is to the library, but post it here for so you can go crazy with it in the monster thread. (once it´s done, which still is awhile off). |

OK thanks ! I sent you already an email. When you will reply, I'll be able to send you the filter. Still waiting your reply...
Yes, for most of the filters, less controls optimizes filters, and you are right in what you said, but some filters are exceptions, as cartoonimals. ![]() visit https://gisoft.ca |

Yeah for that one you need all the 50+ controls to be able to move things around.
Also if you have say a flower generator and you want to have a bomber with 5 different ones, then you have to duplicate the controls 5 times >-< (I really hope they add a randomization option to groups). Also something I would never submit lol. And I got your mail already wrote back ![]() |

Gigi, your volcano filter reminds me very much of mount St. Helens, after it exploded. Very nice

Shar, how does that ice/volcano filter work? Are you using a "smudge" component, or something different?

Indigo, yes the filter uses smudge mainly, but the volcano is done differently. Gigi made it, I only helped with blending things better and stuff.
She constructed the volcano using noises, curves, scale and noise distortions. I have to sit down and look more into all of your guys smudging techniques, I bet there is a lot that could be improved in that part, but I lack the math knowledge lol. Edit: There is a lot of stuff that could be added in, but it´s up to Gigi where she wants to go with the filter. Stuff like northern lights, volcano activity, more hills, crevasses in the glacier etc. |

Hey Shar, I don't find presets for the first and third examples. Can you give it to me, please ?

No sorry, if there are none, then they have been overwritten. I think the first one is still the first one, just an earlier stage and the third one is the first one aswell without the volcano at some stage.

Oh if you were after the look of the water in those presets, just add in a second slider or disconnect the one I put in and play with the settings.

Yeah I was talking about water. But it is not evident to find between add a second slider or disconnect the one... but I will try.
As the filter is a bit slower then the first version, if I add more stuff like northern lights, volcano activity, more hills, crevasses in the glacier etc, this will render more slow the filter. It was in my idea. But what I can do it's to separate things in 2 filters. A volcano version and a winter scenes version. I don't like for myself and users when filters are to slow. I will work on it this week. ![]() visit https://gisoft.ca |

If you mean I did everything I know and gave up, then yes ![]() It's far too complex and slow in my oppinion. I need to test it out in the 4.0beta, with instancing. That might make it a bit less cluttered, but won't help the slowness. Oh, and it's very limited, too. Can't change Size\Pixels, that breaks it, has limited shading, etc. |

Hehe ok. Maybe I give it another try.
And about slowness, lol, I think this one is the slowest filter I´ve made. I hope I can optimize it a bit :S |
