I agree, Stevie... looks like after holidays he became too lazy and wants someone do it for HIM. smile:dgrin:

My bet - all the samples are real to be done by FF.

Yeah, no offense to Crapa, but I'll put $20 on it, that pic above (top of this page) is NOT from an FF filter, it's just too clean and the colors/textures are too close to each other to be done in FF just yet. Someday maybe, FF V4 ? smile:D Hasn't he posted stuff like that before though, like challenges, or foreshadowing stuff he's working on. smile:p

I agree.....super slow.....each color has a different texture.....probably make Carl's 15 minute render look like a quickie smile:D .....then again, Dilla has a quad-core muncher..... smile;) smile:D

----It was really more of a joke on the people who wanted Crapa to submit the filter ha-ha, but sure, I can afford $20 for opening my big mouth. You must post at least a good screencap of it in editor mode, and you can blur out the assembly, but it has to be good proof that you made a filter that looks that good, and similar. smile:)

I've been eye-balling it and have been tempted to give it a go.....six different texture assemblies (including grout).....three stone textures have varying directions.....and a surface result for the gloss.....which means very slow. I do think that it very well can be done.....but it would take some time to get it like that..... smile;) smile:)

It'd be more a "technical achievement" really, to get the colors that close, and the multiple texture differences as well as somehow making the lighting different for each section etc., not that that couldn't be done pretty easily once the impossible task of getting that tight of textures separated out first. It's not something I'd even want a filter of ha-ha, but if someone made one that looked that insanely clear/good, that's skill, and $20 since I said it ha-ha. Speaking of all *this*, maybe we could do an FF challenge/contest later this year. Everyone who wanted to enter could put in $10, and winner take all after a set time for anyone to stop by that thread and vote. Just an idea. smile:)

----I should add in my defense that I don't wander into this particular thread that often, which should excuse me for even suspecting that the pic you posted was from FF ha-ha. smile:p Apparently Constantin is into it, I'm not sure if he meant he was quoting me to make sure it was documented and you (Crapa) could win a whopping $20, or if he wants to take the challenge ha-ha. I'll pay it if anyone makes a filter than can make a graphic like that, I just hardly think that's the point here, or that it's worth all the effort for $20 really. Anyways, I'ma try and not say stuff like that again ha-ha, it's that long removed Texas blood that gets me throwing down bets on stuff that I just can't believe, it was just in fun. smile:D

Oh god, you guys are hilarious.

I did, by the way, seriously consider taking up the challenge of making an "age regressor/progressor" filter. Then I started to consider how exciting an age-regressed or an age-progressed lifesaver would look...

Clicky!

Personally, I don't use any PS third-party plugins other than FF and ImageSynth, but it's always nice to 'get inspired' by all those plugins around...

Btw, I hope every author here has thoroughly perused this page: http://www.filterforge.com/more/links/

Glass effects, preferably working with selections...

Crapadilla's example reminded me of an uberzev "basic shading" idea (which uberzev posted in some previous thread).

I made slight modifications of changing uberzev's idea to a surface filter -- where the "glass effects" still isn't entirely correct -- but I thought I'd post it, in case someone else wanted to perfect it...

(And, yeah, in the end, I'm also imaging some potential "glass filter" to use the "Selection" component-- but in the pre-stages, here, the perlin noise is being used for testing purposes...)

LOL..... Your sample actually got me started on something similar to it.....a very realistic-looking stained glass window with different textured glass in it. I've been posting some individual glass samples in my "Don't Look!!!" and StevieJ's Lab" strings..... smile:devil:

One thing is for sure.....filters with several refraction, highpass, and blur components are extremely slow..... smile:cry:

yup, and shld be quite possible in FF. i've playing off and on with one that can do the top layer fairly well. shldnt be that hard to add the other layers. no time right now, though. got a ton of stuff backed up.
