Wow some awesome filters in this thread Sharandra! Very cool. I actually love the whole old medieval rpg flavored textures. I use to make quite a few in Photoshop just for fun and something like the door maker - even just pumping out the wood and studs and some hinges and then assembling in Photoshop would be such a time saver. Very cool tool.

Oh, and I second the remark about making copies of yur filter, I've had two very cool unexpected effects recently but in botth cases kept on tweaking them and screwed them up.

Thanks! :-)I´m quite happy with it overall, but still a lot of work to be done. I didn´t make much progress last week, because I was busy battling a mean flu that ambushed me. smile:evil: I defeated it tho, armed with lots of tea and tissues! smile:D

As you can see I fixed the floor tho. but there seems to be a mistake in my woodfilter, gotta go find that now! >-<
I´m also thinking of adding some peeling plaster to the vaults. I don´t really like how the bricks look in the shadowy parts. Might make it more interesting looking aswell. And then I gotta make some rusty metal textures for Prison Cell Bars and stuff. Oh and some better fire for the torches smile:D

I´m sorry for keeping you waiting for the filters so long, but I want to finish the dungeon first. After that I´ll make them ready for submitting, I promise!

This looks really great! Very good job. I imagine you will be adjusting the lighting after it is all textured to your satisfaction? That is the only thing missing it seems. Light the areas around the torches and leave pools of shadown, a little smoke on the walls by the torches and it looks like a level in the type of games I use to play. smile:) Nice work - actually lots of awesomeness in this thread.

Your work with the 3D is really very good and well done, nice dungeon and even more knowing that you have done all the textures yourself.

Take care with your flu and hope that you are well soon and so you can keep creating more beauties like this. smile:) Flu battle result: Sharandra 2 Flu 1 smile:D

Burt, yeah I do the lighting last. And there are no shadows because it´s not lightmapped yet. I´ll post some more screenies when I´m done.

Thx Ray, but it´s Shar 2 - Flu 0 smile:p

fun filter experiment:

Are you using this in a game engine like 3D Game Studio or is this a 3D project?

Burt, I guess you mean the dungeon? I´m using it in the Unity3D Game engine.

Thx Gigi smile:-)

Felt like making some crystals. Struggling a tiny bit with the visibility of the inside structures, but getting there.

It's looking good so far. I guess you have reference material, if not http://bit.ly/WxdiWe (I assume it is Amethyst because of the color). Look forward to seeing it develop.

Yep, it´s amethyst, because I got some samples on my desk smile:D But you can change the color to make any other crystal smile:-)

What´s invisible on most photos, is, that amethyst is transparent and often has interesting structures inside. Like a lot of other crystal types aswell.

Now trying to create a geode smile:D

That's cool. I haven't tried doing anything reflective like crystal yet. Wish I had a job so that I could work with this stuff all day. smile:)

Btw, if you´re playing with it, experiment with the lighting.

I need to work a bit more on the scratches.

Thx! Lots of fun! smile:D Just have to figure out how to make them a bit transparent.
And if it is possible to invert that, then I could make really cool geodes! smile:D

Very nice and realistic the spherical displacement filter crystals and also the 2D crystal "honey" like shown above in 2D, very good the transparencies and the lighting.

These look great. I notice in the first sample you provided taht you were using Perlin Noise. Would one of the other noises like Stones or Techno provide a sharper edge?

No, I´m using stones for the crystals. The perlin noise is for the inside of the crystals.

Not sure if the 3D version is good enough for submission.

Hmm, I can´t submit it, as it is, it´s too slow.

It renders fine at 2000x2000, takes 5 minutes. But at 4000x4000 it first gave me the bad alloc bug, then I turned down memory usage. Now, after a few hours it´s only at around 25% :S

This is very cool. I hadn't really thought of it before but I might be able to use FF to 'illustrate' one of my stories - or at least generate backgrounds and such. Thanks for the inspiration.

One day I hope. I have a few stories I had hoped to make into animation features. I was working at a small studio and they took an interest in one of my concepts. They started to show it around but we had a major layoff and that was the end of that. They gave me back the rights to the concept. I have given up the idea of producing an animation on my own for various reasons so I was thinking I might try it as a web comic just to get some traction and then pitch it on Kickstarter so I can get a little $$ to pay some other artists to help out. Anyway didn't mean to hijack the thread. Your work looks good. smile:)

Borrowed the Space Pirates Filter for a test. Unfortunately the spherical mapping seems to be a bit off.
