The problem with kaleidoskopics is that they generally don't lend themselves to chaotic surfaces too well, which are - after all - the topic of this thread. If you were to start a mineral/crystals lab thread however... --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

well, dilla, i've certainly got enough experiments to start a minerals thread
and i dont know, i think maybe the trick with kaleids and chaotic surfaces is, you add kaleids to all the other aspects as well, height, reflectivity, reflection blur and metallic and then control all them equally, the same way, with one set of controls. that way you dont get the oddball streaks and stripes running all over. like this one...  If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Those were just from playing around.....but I do have some texture filters that I want to submit.....and I'm waiting for the new EULA to be put in place first. I want to finally start getting some Editor's Picks.....but I don't want to see the results being cranked out and resold as-is on other sites (like what has happened to some of yours).....kinda negates all my reasons for submitting them.....
I really like that one!!!

Craig, my very first thought when seeing it was to apply some texture separation concepts to it. I would suggest taking a peek at Ron Vier's "Orb" filters.....something like that.....

actually, i do have some separation when i use height and i think that's where i'm having trouble narrowing things down correctly. got it a bit better now, but you shld see some of the variations i have now. i could make 100 different filters off thing If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

I recently came across this:
Mr. Retro Machine Wash filters There's four different versions of the filter -- each one with a page where you can "test drive"/view its various sample effects. The noises seem rather simplistic, but I can imagine how they could be useful to people that are looking for simple grunge effects on an image... |
