Hi, suppose I want to downgrade a filter, and replace all it's componnents to obsolete one, how do I 'read' the version number of the component?

My guess is, everything starting with 2 is compatible with FF2 and above, and everything that starts with 1 is FF1 and above compatible.
The numbers after the decimal are subversions of FF1 or FF2.

Am I right?

Are you talking of component names like Image 2.009? This means this component was introduced in Filter Forge 2.009 (and is compatible with all newer program versions).

You should also note that if a component doesn't have any obsolete variants this doesn't guarantee the latest version is compatible back to Filter Forge 1.0. An example is Particle Adapter.

Are you refering to the component number in the component that appears sometimes in the components in the filter editor, or is it inside the filter in the ffxml file in XML?
