Hi, I am new to FF and have designed one filter. Please bear with me if this is a stupid question but how do I add new presets to a current filter? I have a "Default" preset and would like to add more variations. However when I make small changes to a new preset that I have added, then the default changes too. I would appreciate all help.
Thanks! Nelieta |

Hello, Nelieta, this is a basic question and of very beginner although is not stupid question.
Perhaps the Presets help page will show you more on how to use presets. To add more presets to a filter you just go the black triangular on the top right of the presets panel part.
Are you using the filter inside or outside of filter editor? Because as far as I know the presets using filter forge without going into the filter editor are never changed unless you manually upd ate them, but the default preset is always changed with the latest settings you may have made INSIDE the filter editor.
ADDING FILTER PRESETS INSIDE FILTER EDITOR Reading again the preset help page I have seen that there may be something missing and that is not put how to add additional presets when you are inside filter editor When opening a filter you have to go to the Results component and click on the "Filter Controls" and then it will appear on the top left the settings panel and you have to click on the preset tab to have them and then in the same way as before click on the black triangle to add new presets variation, ALTHOUGH is very important to know that this presets are going to be changed if you make any further change of components or settings of the components INSIDE the filter, you change the se ttings inside the filter editor only with the se ttings panel so the presets are not changed. if you have any further question, feel free to ask. |

Hi SpaceRay, thank you for taking the time to explain. I was referring to changes inside the filter editor. I was designing a filter with metallic rings and added the default preset. Then I wanted to change the shape of the rings and save it as another preset. However, the default preset also changed. I was hoping to add this "variation" as a new preset without creating a new filter. From your last paragraph I now understand that it is not possible. I couldn`t find the information when I was browsing and thank you for clarifying. I appreciate you taking the time to explain to a newbie

Glad to be helpful! I knew it should be inside the filter editor, because outside the filter editor the default preset is not changed unless you change it yourself manually.
A filter is like a chain of instructions that follow the components and the settings they have, you can add control components to be able to control the settings of the components from outside of filter editor (or inside the filter editor keeping the default preset) and this way you can modify what you want in the filter but without changing the default preset. The default preset in the filter editor changes when a component is added or deleted from the filter, or is modified the settings of any component without having added a control component to it, also if you move any of the links inside the filter will change the default preset. If you make a new additional preset while making the filter and then you change things in the filter, this new preset you have added will follow the instructions of the default preset and the variations it has to this default preset to show what you have made as a preset, I mean that if you make 10 new presets, all this will be according to what the default preset looks like and be attached to it. If the default preset is changed, all the other presets will be changed too. You must make different filter if what you want to modify can´t be done with just using control component to modify the settings, like adding or removing components or moving links inside the filter. |
