Im having a hard time making cracks and scratches, anyone done anything like this already, the best i have made so far is using the motion blur but this just makes straight ones so not very realistic.

One solution might be using some custom profile with a stretched noise or stones component. Masking off some areas to make the resulting high-contrast noise less uniform and feeding it into a noise distortion might be an adequate finisher.

james,
check out my 'glass menagerie' filter. it can be tweaked, i think, to approximate cracks. and with a little work, it might have some other uses along those lines. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Cool thanks i will check it out, i have been away for a while but im back now (hopefully) so i will definately check that out, i still think a dedicated module that scratches up/wears down the texture/image would be great idea. Im thinking it would be great for building scratched metal/wood surfaces. Until then though these suggestion are a great help so thanks all

I already have it on my list, most likely it will be based on the Bomber codebase. |

james,
i just ran across one in the filter library. it's not cracks so much, but close. i think it was called 'cracked paint'. quite a good filter! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
