Im a newbie here.. Which is the best method to make the shape of a guitar pick in the filter editor?
I tried with a free polygon (3 sides rounded and a little squash) but it has a rectilinear side anyway... I tried with an existing egg filter but the egg need to be "triangularized" (round and soft in the bottom, and pointy and sharp on the top) I know its a piece of cake for you guys.. thanks in advance!!! |

From the above Gut Pick Curve filter you can cutomize the curve for many variations of picks from gut to bass picks..

Another question CFandM: is it possible to the shape to have a bevel profile to add volume? I tried with no luck... But I know you can do it

yes this is very possible, in fact there is already a filter that can do this...Can't let you escape without some work thou..
Don't worry its not so hard to do...
First you will need ThreeDees filter found HERE Then open up the Gut Pick Curve filter and copy just the curve component...Then edit ThreeDees filter and paste the curve component into the filter....Now replace the "noise" component with that curve component you just pasted into the workspace....Just like the image... Once you are done with this then close and save the filter.....Then go to the lighting tab in the filters settings....Turn the "Surface Height" down to 1....

You should have a nice pick with a bevel and a way to color that pick as well....The curve should work the same as the gut pick curve filter.....Here is a result that I got from doing it this way...
