I want to submit a new filter and asking myself whether it will be a brand new filter or an update. I've created a Color DJ filter. It gives many possibilities to play with colors from mild to wild. Because of the "wild" options it can easily make a mess from an image when used with a randomizer. So I decided to make a Light version of it. Less options and sliders and much easier to work with. It works better with a randomizer (creates a "natural looking" recolored image). So, it's more a kind of "downgrade" in options and possibilities, but an "upgrade" for those who is looking for a simple way to recolor the image without need to learn the sliders. It lends a couple of main basic principles from the original filter, but explores them a bit differently. So, both filters are still the family, has the same purpose and share the name (with adding Light to an easier version), but have a bit different slider system (like check boxes are turned into sliders and the names are not the same). I think I have to submit the Light version as a new filter, but wanted to ask here first. Please, your advice.

If you submit the "light" version as an update to the "full" version, you will overwrite the full version. That's like a mayonnaise company coming out with a lite version and discontinuing the original. smile;) Better to do it as a separate filter. A bunch of others have submitted both full and light versions of their filters, can't remember off the top of my head which.

Thanks for your answer, Indigo!

That's an important nuance to know (that an update overwrites the previous version).

I've sent the same question to the Filter Forge support team and got an answer today that it's better to submit it as a new filter indeed.
