Hi,
I have a love for FF and the FF Community here. And one of my favorite programs is a photography program made for improving peoples portraits. But I must admit FF is an even better program. There's just one thing that my portrait software can do that I wish Filter Forge had a filter for: Opening peoples eyes (without doing anything else to the eyes). Because when people smile they often squint and it this makes it difficult to see their eyes. I know it can be done but I'm not good at making filters yet. Can anyone here help me by making a filter the "opens people's eyes"? Thanks in advance! Mark "Art really can have a purpose." |

You might as well do that manually and it's probably better to do so manually. Otherwise what you just described is worthy of a Siggraph paper (scientific research paper).
![]() I would recommend simply using the liquify tool to carefully unsquint people's eyes or replace them from another photograph if you happen to have another set. FilterForge isn't really that great of a tool to do manual work, it's more like making textures randomly, applying effects to the overall picture, and automating simple things. Unless you just want to place some ... eyes on top of the face. https://filterforge.com/filters/7380.html hah. ![]() |

I was thinking along the lines of a filter like "Facial Expressions" by ThreeDee. But for eyes instead of smiles.

Right that was what I was thinking as well since you'd need to distort the image somehow. I just don't see the practicality in using FIlterForge for the type of thing though. In the end you'd still need to manually align the portrait exactly to frame so the filter just works on it, you'd need many parameters to manually fix up each part of the eye so when it distorts it looks correct to how the picture should look like etc etc.
Within the time of doing that I could just pick up the liquify do and do minor adjustments and get results instantly. It's faster and more precise, and interactive, than trying to use a program that wasn't intended to do the type of thing you're asking for. I mean I figure it's really not that much of a challenge if you ignore all of that. Just need to distort the eyes with a bulge effect which would make things look weird haha. But in a sense is that what's being asked? In the end the filter CAN exist it's just that it'd be kinda like a really niche, multi-step filter requiring quite a number of prerequisites to qualify to work. Like again with the Facial Expressions filter, you have to align the face accordingly or it doesn't work. Sorry if I come out sounding a bit stringent, I just prefer to suggest what's more likely to get the job done!! ![]() |
