Hi Vladimir.

Firstly I would like to thank you for a great program. The more I use it the more I like it.
It’s been very stable and running with no problems. I do agree with the comments about speed and putting the controls on the components. (Maybe an option to change the component view into a list view)

Regarding the Filter Categories.
I find these categories a little limited. For example, it would be possible to build restoration and repair filters but there is no category to put them in?

I can find no control to work on a selection. This is a shame because FF could then make frames. This would be a whole new area to use FF and make the program even more versatile.

A problem of any taxonomy. Especialy of a taxonomy of a system that doesn't exist yet -- we had to invent those categories without any knowledge regarding the future development of Library.

That's why I want to move the Library from Categories to Tags.

We'll put them into Misc, and if there will be a growing number of them, they'll be moved into a separate new category -- we can create new categories, delete obsolete ones and move filters between categories.

Components > External > Selection

If the filter is working under Photoshop, it will take Photoshop's current selection. For a stand-alone version, you'll have to open the grayscale image for selection via File > Open Selection. Soft selection is fully supported. If a filter uses the Selection component but there's no selection loaded, filter users will see a message "this filter requires selection".

If you make seven good frame filters, we'll create a separate category for them.

Ken -- looks like I've found a way to allow Filter Forge to make Frame-type filters. Hopefully we'll see it in this beta.

That’s great Vladimir.

Making frames for a square picture was not a problem. The problem was the tiling on rectangular pictures. (I wish I could turn this off)
However there still remains the problem of oval overlays (matts) which still can’t be positioned centrally. I guess we’ll have to wait for Bombers?

Exactly.

Hmm... Didn't think about oval overlays. We have a rectangular frame component on our plan, and adding a centered oval is not a problem. What other kinds of basic frame shapes would you like to see?

Hi Vladimir.

Rectangular, Square, Round and Oval mounts are by far the most popular although I have used an odd Heart Shaped one.

What about Vignettes? (Soft focus and Coloured) these could probably be made from a blurred, low opacity Mount. But this was the reason for my question in the ‘Square to Rectangles’ thread. I was trying to make them with gradients.

Hi Vladimir.

Sorry.
A mount is similar to an overlay. (also known as a matte in the US)
The cardboard overlay inside the frame.
Overlays are usually thicker and have a beveled edge.
Mounts are usually slip in folders made of card but can still be used in a frame.

Yup -- got it, thanks. Oval and round mattes are possible, but I won't dare to include the heart-shaped one smile:) The soft edges can be done via blurs.
