Hello everyone,
I have been using Filter Forge for awhile now - very impressed with it. I have a question as want to transfer colour values from one image to another. to create the same look. I dont know if there is a filter at Filter Forge that does this or not. Basically, I can load an image I want to change, into Filter Forge. Load a source image I want to copy the colour from. Thanks Sketcher |

Welcome. I'm not sure what you mean, but is Histogram Sync similar to what you are looking for? It involves changing changing the color of one image based on the colors of a second image.

I'm looking at the bands of colour wondering if they might be a clue - it would be handy if there were some tutorials

I would think you'd need to adjust the hue and saturation based on the input image while leaving the luma intact. I think the simplest way to do it would be to split the image into certain number of hue bands and extract the average values thereof from the source and apply them to the target. That's not exactly simple, but at least doable. My old Color Palette from Image sort of does the first step.
To get two images into FF, use the color control with image input enabled for the second image. |

Thanks ThreeDee, I am looking at the filter editor - thats very useful and found the color control. That looks like it would work......but my understanding of the editor as yet is rather limited. If this filter could load two images at the preset stage a source and target that would make a new filter......but thats beyond me

I downloaded Gimp and the G'Mic filter....As I thought it would be quicker to do this. The G'mic works and transfers the colour fine.
It would be neat if Filter Forge, had a dedicated tranfer colour filter and one than can fine tune. The Color Palette from image I like that it breaks down the colours.....I think there is a lot of potential there to go further......but I wouldnt know how. As an artist who is working on art all the time......There are times when I need this filter. I found Filter Forge simply because I was looking for an etching program to pass my sketches through....then I found your site - tried it for a few months......and realised what a difference it made very quickly. Its improved my work no end......Even passed some of my artwork through I did years ago - quite amazing! Now what kind of things would be on my wish list? I am always doing pen and ink sketches...but I like to turn them into colour sometimes.....there is always alot of work - so if there was ever a filter that could speed this up that would be great. Congratulations Sketcher |
