I'm a newcomer to Filter Forge as regards designing filters, but since I couldn't find vinyl siding filters that I like, I decided to make my own, and submit it ... I probably did everything wrong, but that's another story. I made a filter that used Perlin noise to create height. Now I'd like to create a couple of siding textures that are at 90 degrees to my originals, but when I turn the noise through 90 degrees, it loses all height attributes. Is this something that I should expect ... if so can someone explain why it happens so that I can learn something. How would I create a vertically oriented wood grain like texture to give it height?

Welcome!
I see that "flatness" you're talking about when you set the perlin noise angle to 90. I also noticed that you are using the same settings in the lighting tab for all presets. Try spinning the environment ball, or picking a different environment (maybe an outdoor one, since vinyl sidings are usually outside?), etc. In other words, it still has height, it just needs better lighting. More info on the lighting tab here. |

Ahh, thank you. So new and foolish that I didn't think about using the lighting tab in the filter creation ... back to the drawing board!
