I'm having a lot of fun with this program, haven't come across any issues yet...

I've saved a couple filters, what is the preferred method of saving some different presets of each filter?

Technically, saving presets is very simple -- you just "Add" them in the Presets tab. If you feel that a preset could be improved, you "Update" it. If you don't like it, you delete it. If you want to change the order of Presets, well, that's a bit more complex since currently there is no way to do that. You can do that via several Add-Update-Delete manipulations manually.

Artistically, presets should highlight the range of possibilities of a filter. Presets provide starting points for the user to explore the filter without fully understanding its controls. By looking at your presets, the user should immediately understand what this filter is capable of.

Regarding the number of presets -- it is best to include at least 9 presets per filter. This is because filter web pages (example) show 9 filter variations based on presets. If you supply less than 9 presets, the rest of the "variations" will be generated randomly, and you might not like the results. Simply put, if you want your filter's webpage to look good, submit filters with 9 presets.

Hi folks, nice to meet you. Well, I just started a few hours ago and FF seems an amazing program/filter. Of course I can't say too much right now because as I said before I just started. Anyway, congratulations for the FF and we will be in touch more often.

Well, let's go to the subject. As this topic is about Presets, I'm wondering how to create variations of Presets. I mean, I've added 3 Presets, but when I edit one of them, the previous ones changes too. How do I do to keep the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd different from each other? I mean, make 3 different presets on the same filter.

Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for my English. It isn't my native Language.

Cheers,
Lucato.

Hello
Just select the preset that you want to edit and let the picture render then right above the preset window and over to the right is a arrow in a
box. Choose "add preset" it adds a copy of that selected preset then you can edit that without messing up the original one. enjoy FF I am.

I discovered this program from the Plugin Site news letter
I am very new to creating filters even tho I use them alot in Paint Shop Pro (using X version now) Am trying to figure out how to add the presets I see on the main window of this seemingly awesome program I cannot find any add preset anything on my copy. I got a general idea how the placing of components work by looking at the source of the other filters created.
I really want to learn to create usuable filters because I know flter usage and what is wanted in the 2d graphic world!

On the Presets tab, near the presets area, there is an "Arrow button" -- click it and you'll see all you need.

Hi CFandM, thanks for your feedback, but It wasn't what I was trying to find. Maybe It's because my Language barrier. smile:)

Actually I was getting to add new presets as you and Vladimir have explained above, but the only problem was when editing a added preset, It was changing all previous presets of the same texture. I got to find out what I was doing wrong. I thought that I could edit each selected/added preset into the work area by changing the nodes values and It would change just the selected preset. Wrong way! Maybe Junes is thinking this way too. smile:) Well, I found out that the right way is adding those controls (slider, color, so on) in the work area/node and I just can change each added preset by using these control in the Settings Tab!!! smile;)

I hope this info can help others doing the same mistake as I was doing. Maybe It was just me. smile:)

Cheers,
Lucato.
