hello, i'm wondering a good place to start to create a multi size stone texture like the attached image. it seems like i would have to approach this with blend and opacity. but also make a larger square or rectangular pattern and put smaller rectangular patterns inside it. but uh... ha! thanks. i've been searching and might not be searching on the right terms for what type of pattern this is? i found one that seems to have something close to what i need, but when i tweak it to have more horizontal or vertical repeat, it gets quite messed up!
thanks ![]() |

The term you might be looking for is multi tiles or multi tiling, where the concept is that several different tile textures can be mixed with seamless edges.
Take a look at that concept here: https://filterforge.com/forum/read.php...ssage78886 About that exact texture look you're after - I recall a discussion about constructing stone walls with different sized bricks, but I can't locate it atm. |

thanks! i've been able to get rectangles within rectangles. so maybe describe it by saying i can have a brick that is 4 units long x 1 unit high, then within the 4 units i can break that up into 2 units. i've been approaching it from a masking point of view, which means a blend and then a copy of one of the bricks to use as a black and white mask. but definitely looking at these links.
EDIT: YEAH that stone house texture i've played with for a long time now, trying to get rectangular stones instead of rounded. i replaced the "ellipse" shape with a square shape and it didn't quite work out ha! but i'm playing with it. i will keep trying with these new links now. thanks again. |
