I was working on an experimental filter recently, however, this filter is specialized and is designed to work with a specific type of image. Basically, it's a screentone generator for Manga art (Fills line art with various formations of noise/patterns to emulate shading while still being only black and white), unfortunately, I'm a bit conflicted between making the default preset practical or pretty... In the practical sense, it'll appear as just a square of white noise which I'm pretty sure will tend to repel people from trying it, on the flip side though, I'd probably have to go quite out of the way of the filter's actual function to produce a good looking default preset thumbnail that hints to what it is capable of in application.
I was wondering if I should just accept this scenario as it is (afterall, screentone use is a specialized graphic tool to begin with) and leave the white noise square of death alone or if I should try to go out of the way and do something with the base image to make a more pretty preset? Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thank you! ^_-
