What's the most efficient way to scale an image by one axis only? Is it the squash option on the scale component? Or something else?

I've provided a axis independent scaling routine written in FF7. Center X & Y are where the center of the image is placed. Squash is a pain to work with IMHO. I'll explain it more if needed.

Cool, thanks. I agree about squashing. It seems strangely counterintuitive.
