Interesting, filling the plane with 14 sided tiles but the sides HAVE to be curved. Here is the link to the actual paper: A Chiral Aperiodic Monotile. The article is from the same place ( arxiv.org ) I found the squircle mappings. The paper has not been peer reviewed yet (from last month) and doesn't provide the hard numbers I would need to work on this. Most of it is "visualized". But I will be keeping an eye on the evolution of this newly discovered tile. Here is a key screenshot from the paper:

Very cool!
There's also this interactive web app. You can check the javascript for how the tiling is generated. I don't think I'll be attempting this in FF any time soon, but good luck if anyone else does ![]() |

Definitely beyond me. Here is the Spectre Tiling Javascript as found by emme. It would have to be a map script in FF AND it is 750 lines of code (and very few comments). And that's not even all the code, the AJAX tool kit is used as well. My hat's off to anyone trying it, it might be too much for FF. Interesting topic, thanks Carl.

It will be interesting if anyone can do it, that's for sure, but it sounds maybe impossible in FF.

I have seen this other related news that seems to be the same thing but is explained in more detail with more examples
Spectre 14 aperiodic tiling I do not think that is possible unless you use scripting and even then is also dificult as an aperiodic means that the tiling does not repeat This may also why there is no Penrose tiling available in the FF library Maybe this is nothing, but When searching for " Spectre tiling lua script" I have found this lua script called Spectre but there is no information about what It does so I do not know if It is related |

Thanks for you comments SpaceRay. No, this is probably some kind of gaming code (excerpt):
