Here's an example (FF 11 or above) using the Stones noise component. Only the green inputs can change in the loop and usually the value fed to the numeric inputs are from 0 (black) to 1 (white) as seen in the top Randomizer component, which is fed to the green Roughness input of the noise component.
The way to get around the limitation of the grey inputs is shown here in the second Randomizer (which also has a different Variation than the first Randomizer for a different random number sequence). The value of the Randomizer is between 0 and 2.999999 and fed to the Switch (Selectior range is 0, 1, or 2) after flooring. This way different Stones are sent to the 3 x 3 output randomly. Change the filter Variation at the bottom left to see "random" changes. Does this make sense? Bomber + Randomizer Example.ffxml Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

Grey inputs are designed for Control components which essentially means they are "constant" values.
As a workaround I have provided another example in FF 11 using a Map Switch. Double click the group and you can see how it works. 10 Stones components that are the same except for the Details grey value. The values are 0 to 100, and the Map Switch blends the results (Mode = Continuous) if the random value is in-between. The Map Switch expects a value from 0 to 1 at the Selector. Note that this method would not work well with Scale or Stretch. For grey switches like Flat you would create 2 identical Stones, 1 with Flat checked and the other unchecked. Then send those values to a Switch. A Randomizer with values between 0 and 1.999999 sent to a Floor then to the Switch Selector would do what you want. Code fragment in example. Trying to randomize more than one grey input is tricky... Bomber + Map Switch Example.ffxml Math meets art meets psychedelia. |
