Would it be possible to use two source images by putting them side by side into one image. This one picture would be read by the filter and divided into two images that are half the width of the input image. Then it would process these with whatever filter method is used. And I think the last step would have to be placing the result back into a canvas that is twice its width and with the extra part transparent or all white. So I guess this is two snippets.
I have no idea how to do this. And I know that making up the side by side image for input would be a kludge and a pain. But I'm wondering if this could work until FilterForge is able to handle more than one input. |

Great idea, Andrew. I may use it (at least for some personal projects).
I made a quick test filter that blends the right side of an image with it's left side -- however you have to set up the canvas correctly for it to work. Here's the instructions: 1. With the first image, adjust the canvas width to 200%, and have the image be on the left side. 2. Select, copy and paste the second image into the first image, and move it to be on the right side of the image. 3. Then again adjust the canvas so that the height is the same size as its width so its dimensions now make a square. (If you have a rectangle, the offset component seems to work "weirdly".) 4. Merge the two images into a single layer, and then use the filter to blend the left and right sides. 5. Then you'll have to crop the image to get rid of all the extra canvas. It's sort of a pain, but at least there seems to be a work-around in case you want to use two images in a filter... (Again, fun idea, Andrew. ![]() twoimageblend.ffxml |

Wow! That was quick. Thanks for writing the snippet. And I think this will help with other people's projects too.
Are you going to write this up with description and instructions and submit it to the Library? We agree that it is a clunky way to do things, but it beats not being able to do it at all. |

Just thought of something. This offset problem should be reported as a bug. I'll put up a post in the bug section.

Andrew,
It could be a nice technique for others to know about, so I guess I will submit it as a snippet. I'll be sure to mention you for the idea. ![]() |
