I'm trying to create a frame that decreases the image size proportionally within the frame. I created one that will only work for perfectly square images. Does anyone know how to make it work for images of all dimensions??? This is the base filter of what I have so far.....

This is what it does to a 640 x 480 image......

That's a neat idea, Steve! Hope you get some help on that.
What I was wondering, could you incorporate one of those Zoom snippets for the image reflection to your frame?

I don't think it can be done can it, I mean ya gotta use profgrads to zoom/unzoom anything, and those don't tile seamlessly.... smile:(

Well, there are a few Zoom Snippets in the Library for controlling how close or far your image will appear. I thought maybe you could figure out a way to apply a zoom control to the reflected images so as to control their size around the main image... doesn't that make any sense smile:?:

that's one of the holy grails at the moment, steve. i've tried it several times in several ways and looked at all the zoomers in the library, plus a few that arent there. i've also tried using uber's snippet that gets around the profile gradients, but couldnt get it to work. but that was six months ago and i didnt have a very good understanding of what i was doing in that area. so, you might take a look at uber's proportional gradient snippet.

Yeah, I found that all the "Zoom/Shrink" filters in the library are disfunctional in the exact same way....they wont do anything other than a square image when shrinking.....

I know this can be done.....since offset is reading the profile grads as square, the grads need to be proportioned to the image dimensions before offset.....

100 Quatloos to the person who figures this out!!! (from one of the first episodes of the original "Star Trek" with three brains wagering) smile;) smile:D LOL.....

I'm going to try this again.....and plug each side into a frame component before offset.....might work.....

I'm not familiar with that currency.....but 500 "Woolongs" then!!! smile;) smile:D

I think I'm getting it with a mod of Ubers proportional gradient.....but not a "smooth" transition.....

lol... quatloos. when i first heard them saying that, i thought they were saying qualudes (the street drug) smile;)

and yes, steve, i could get a skewed version to work, but never could get it straightened up. i even tried putting uber's profile gradients in twice in the same filter, but that didnt work either. boy, where's uber when ya need him? smile:)

LOL.... I actually think I've got it worked out.....just have to do some more curve work so it is a smooth linear transition.....

Hey, did I help at all... even in a tiny bit... but suggesting that maybe a zoom snippet might help on your request for help, Steve smile:?:

I had already looked at all the Zoom/Shrink filters and none of them did anything different than what I had come up with......

I have it worked out now......and I'll submit a snippet of it. Uber really deserves all the credit with his "Proportional Gradient" filter......

Well, I was thinking that it would be very useful in all frame filters so you wouldn't have to cover any of the original image with the frame.....among other filter uses I have planned for it smile:devil:
