Flipping a rectangular image?

Is there a way to vertically flip a rectangular (eg. 600x800) image? Using examples provided here, I'm able to create a vertical gradient for such an image, but then pumping that into offset does not correctly flip the image on rectangular images.

I won't have time to verify this idea until maybe Thursday, but my idea here would be to use uberzev's "Proportional Gradient" snippet -- where I'd hook up the snippet into either the Offset's horizontal or vertical input...
I'm thinking this could "flip" the rectangular image horizontally or vertically (where the normal, linear gradient breaks things up with rectangular images)...

(I'll attach a file if/when I get the time (assuming the idea works). smile:) )

Nope, Uber's Proportional Gradient snippet only works for square images. Hopefully, FF is creating a proportional gradient profile in version 2 which will allow it......

I tried this, thinking the same thing as you: unfortunately, the offset component seems to work quite differently when its no longer a square image, even if the gradient is correctly scaled to the image.

If I get a chance, I'll post an example tonight.

Okay, I finally found some time to tryout the idea I was thinking of -- and yeah, I now see problems where the "Proportional Gradient" doesn't solve this the way I thought it would.
(I also found it interesting how the (square,) component thumbnail-pics didn't seem to correctly correspond to the actual, final calculations/results...)
