I'm working on a winding wire/string filter that uses an edge trace of the input image, however I'm having some problems getting a clean trace - either there's too much noise or there is gaps... just wondering if any of you know a good method to get clean outlines?
Here is a preview of the current filter output ![]() |

edge tracing is always difficult in a multi-hued, multi-shaded image. you pick up one thing but lose another. you could try the various edge filters we already have, pluse try my color extraction filter. those might give you some ideas.
boy, i need to re-do that color extractor. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Yeah.. thats the problem.. I guess I knew that already ![]() I've been looking at many edge something filters already... I was hoping that I maybe missed a few not so known ones... Btw Craig.. you've been around for a long time - is there any filters doing similar effects to what I'm working on here? |

Its in.. here you go!
But I'm not done with this one yet... some annoying performance problems prevented me from adding options to use selections or alpha channel for tracing input (check out the source.. as you can see I added the functionality..its just bypassed atm..) |
