Any of you know how to trick this pattern? it's like all the loungy puffy seatcushions but then combined with a checked pattern... is there anyways a way to do this in Filterforge?
The closest i come is one where the repeat will only work on the uneven numbers but not on the even numbers. And I'm sure it can be done or am I wrong? |

Sounds pretty simple, but I can't get a picture of exactly what you are trying to achieve. Could you post an example?

Hi 3D, I admire your energy, thanks for trying to help out!
I attached a picture of Cezanne the man on the right shows of the harlequin pattern i am trying to achieve though a little bit more complex as on the picture. I think your seamless rotation and repeat might do the trick, though then still the ammount 2 height against 1 width (sorry dutch, I can't remember the word in english)might give a problem. So maybe there are more easy ways to do it? As a base for the filter I now used a combination of frame sphere's, tiles and the checker with the idea to turn all in the end of the filter. ![]() |

If you mean just a simple version like this (below then yes, it can be done in 30 seconds in FF. It will only tile seamlesslessy in certain stretched increments, and for a 2:1 ratio most likely only even numbers will work without using a more complex method that my 30 second way.

ahhha so i wasnt crazy at all! wow, i'm getting to be amazed by myself here!
But now the question is is it totally impossible? or can we make a non breaking filter with one of the other options? |

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding something here, harlequin patterns are totally easy in FF... and I don't see why they should 'break' at all!

yes, that one I found quickly, the problem is its just not only that pattern in the filter, there is also ropes and buttons in it so ropes on the side of the 'inclined squares' and buttons in between them.
Is there a way to get them all to move fluently with eachother? |

If you 'scale' everything via the 'Size, pixels' slider then you should have no problems at all.

Hehe, you're welcome!
![]() The only case when different patterns don't scale in perfect sync with eachother is when a filter author tries to scale them via a custom control. This can be problematic since some components (like the noises) don't scale in a linear fashion while others (patterns/gradients) do. Consequently, the trick is to always use 'Size, pixels' for any scaling. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Of course Crapa is right about the scaling and the 'best' way to do it. But it should also be said that it is often times a steeper learning curve, and there's umm, usually more than "one way to filter a cat", so to speak.

Yes, though in this case I prefer Crap's method above loosing ALL of my hair
![]() And believe me after submitting my first filter I haven't really stood still as far as it goes for filterforge... It's way too addictive (think they should put a sticker on the website and product pictures giving a fair warning!) I'm slowly starting to see how things work that I didnt have a clue about when I first got FF. And that's i guess the best part. There aren't so many nodes, but the end of the learning curve is sure not within sight yet! now those damn knots ![]() |

Yus, but still with the ropes and buttons, it ain't working out together... I now fix it in photoshop but its still distorted then... heh, and offcourse i deleted the one that had the 'break on the even repeats'.
I want version control and folders in my filters... |
