In Linear curves I always just took it for granted a lower end than start does not work as one would expect. You'd expect the curve to go down, but to get that you have to check the Invert checkbox.

Since I just ran into a problem with that I was just wondering: is there a reason the Linear curve works like that?

When the Start value is greater than the End value, they get reversed – the Start parameter defines the End value and vice versa. This is needed to avoid flipping the curve horizontally.

But why do you want to avoid that?
