What's all this business I keep hearing about replacing Prof Grads with blends.
Anyone mind filling me in? |

I heard Assemble HSL is "best" for renderng-time and solid colors set internally. Crapa ?

I didn't hear anything about that. I did hear about replacing blends with threshold which is very useful.

That's just jffe going around spreading false rumors... ![]() Ok, all kidding aside. Blends are faster than Profile Gradients according to Vladimir. The Assemble components are also slower than Blends (and harder to control). See Optimizing Filters for Speed. I used to use Profile Gradients in several of my older filters to generate solid layers of color, but this has the disadvantage of making the filter discrete, and being slower than using Blend components. Consequently, I replaced all those Profile Gradients with Blends. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

dilla, how are you using 'discrete' here? i looked this up with a google define and there are about 20 separate definitions for that word. i couldnt tell which one you were using. so, what is 'discrete' about a profile gradient? what makes it more 'separate and distinct' than a blend? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!
