Hi there,
I have a simple offset filter [attached] which I feed this Source Image: ![]() Download Source Image ...and get this result: ![]() What I find confusing is the mirroring that the Offset node is causing at the centre of the image. I.e. one corner of the yellow square is being flipped from the bottom right of the centre pixel to the top left. I guess it is something to do with float precision... Can anyone explain what it is, and how I can prevent it? Thanks in advance for any help. Karl Lensify sWarp Onlyz.ffxml |

The offset master ThreeDee would be able to tell you the whys ........... if you turn your offset percentage down to 15 or so you'll solve your problem if thats any help

Thanks Carl - I appreciate the input...
I'm still really interested to try and understand why this happens. K |

Aaand the filter.
It uses an entirely different offset technique, run though ThreeDee's "Get X,Y" snippet that he posted on the forums. Lensify mWarp Onlyf test.ffxml |

The land of Offsettia is a strange and magical place, whose secrets are uncovered only by a few wizened souls, and guarded more jealously than any gold.

Yes, we need some serious wiki work on Offsets... which brings me to the question: Where is ThreeDee?

[@tigerAspect] Thanks for the example; this creates a great sphere but won't work for my workflow...
What my filter does is convert normal maps into Displacement maps (to use in After Effects). The result is like looking through a lens in the shape of the object you originally created the normal map from. I started to get these artefacts and just couldn't understand why... I still think it must be some sort of floating point issue.... hmmm Offset is an interesting animal indeed... |
